AI Law and Governance Practice Group

About this practice group

Artificial Intelligence is no longer experimental. It is embedded in business decision-making, products, infrastructure, and governance structures across industries. As AI systems become more autonomous, less transparent, and increasingly commercially valuable, they introduce new layers of legal, regulatory, and reputational risk.

Our AI Law & Governance Practice Group supports organisations throughout the AI lifecycle, from early design and development to deployment, commercialisation, governance, and dispute resolution. We advise boards, founders, technology teams, and investors on managing AI-related legal risk in a manner that is commercially sound, ethically defensible, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations across jurisdictions.

We do not approach AI from a purely theoretical or compliance-driven perspective. Our work is grounded in practical risk identification, governance design, and legal structuring. We recognise that questions of AI liability, accountability, and compliance are highly contextual, fact-specific, and shaped by sector, use case, and operational environment.

This practice group works closely with our technical partners in both AI development and auditing, including data scientists, AI privacy engineers, and algorithmic analysts. This integrated approach allows us to advise on AI-related matters that cut across technology, contracts, intellectual property, governance, and litigation, particularly in cross-border contexts.

Core Legal Services

Our AI Law & Governance Practice Group advises on legal risk, governance, and accountability issues arising from the development, deployment, and use of artificial intelligence systems. We support clients across advisory, transactional, and dispute matters, including AI governance frameworks, technology and intellectual property structuring, risk analysis, and disputes involving AI-driven decisions.

Our work is informed by an understanding of how AI systems are designed, trained, and deployed in practice, and is delivered in collaboration with technical professionals where appropriate. This allows us to provide legal advice that is grounded in system-level realities while remaining focused on legal strategy, governance, and risk management across jurisdictions.
